Active Lines are going strong.... (April 2019)
Our active lines are going strong. The Active School committee members and playground leaders have really stepped up, taking responsibility for running the lines each day.
Active walkway (March 2019)
Our Active Schools committee wanted to make our active walkway in school even more active! So they came up with different activities we could do at each marker and roped in some students from 6th class to help them to make videos for each marker, demonstrating the activity at each one. The students making the videos had great fun, hopefully everyone will have equally as much fun trying it out themselves.

Cycle Safety (February 2019)
The Green Schools committee organised a cycle safety workshop for the school on 27th February 2019, as part of their work towards the travel flag. It worked in our favour also as it got lots of students cycling to school! :-) Many thanks to Ann-Marie for taking the time to show us how to cycle safely to and from school.
Busy Breaks..... (February 2019)
Rainy days won't stop us.....Our Active Schools committee members have come up with a 3 minute video for both the junior and the senior end of the school, which will make sure we stay active, even when the rain stops us from getting out at lunch. You might even do them on the days you do get outside for lunch as well to help us to become even more active!

Our active lines are back with a bang.... (January 2019)
It's a new year and this January has seen a new set of active lines in the school yard. They run from Monday to Thursday, leaving way for "Free Dance Friday"! :-) We've changed up the activities, and our Active Schools committee members have put together a series of videos so that everyone knows what activities they are doing each day. Remember when the bell rings you line up as usual and on the next bell you begin the first activity, on the third bell you continue with the second activity and on the final bell we will all be standing in our lines quietly, ready to go back into class. Our Active Schools committee members and playground leaders will be at the top of each line to lead you. Remember each week we will be watching out for the MOST ACTIVE line! :-)

Club Survey (December 2018)
We were curious about the types of clubs in the area everyone belonged to so the Active Schools committee carried out a survey to find out. There was great variety in the types of clubs everyone belonged to! :-)
Let's Get more people walking, cycling and scooting to school (october 2018)
Tiarnan McClusker visited our school on 10th October 2018, to aid the Green Schools committee with their work on the Green Schools Travel Flag. A group of children from the school walked the routes from the different housing estates to the school to establish if it was possible for children from the different estates to walk/cycle or scoot to and from school and if so how long it would take. The good news is the distance from the majority of the estates is completely doable, with the length of time taken to walk from one of the furtherest estates, Cloughree Well only taking 16 minutes! :-) Walking, cycling or scooting to and from school is a great way to get some more exercise in during the week and is lots of fun, particularly if you meet up with your friends along the way! :-)
