August 2017
- Window boxes and Fairy garden. The members of the Parents Association committee garden group created a fairy garden at the entrance of the school and assisted Francis Casey in the preparation of colourful window boxes.
September 2017
- The Parents Association hosted a tea/coffee reception for the parents of new pupils on the first day of term.
October 2017
- The Parents Association AGM was held on 18th October 2017. The committee officers for the 2017-2018 academic year were elected at the AGM.

- Halloween Disco. The Parents Association hosted the annual Halloween Disco for the pupils and their siblings in St Dominic’s community centre on the last day of term. The hall was decorated to suit the theme. Each child was presented with a goody-bag at the end of the disco.
November 2017
- A school calender was designed as part of the Parents Association fundraising project. All pupils and teachers were photographed for the month of their birthday with colourful fun props. The calender was well received by parents and students alike.
December 2017
- Santa’s visit took place on the last day of term. Santa presented each child with a candy cane treat.
- The Christmas Hamper raffle took place on the last day of term as part of the Parents Association fundraising project.
January 2018
- An eight week course of swimming lessons was organised for the Third and Fourth class pupils. The feedback from the swimming coaches, the students and their parents was very positive.
March 2018
- St Dominics NS was represented in the Ballymahon St Patrick’s day parade. The children and parents involved made great efforts with their costumes and balloon decorations. The participants were awarded a prize for the best new entry.
- A Zeeko internet safety seminar was organised for the 2nd to 6th class students and teachers. A separate evening seminar was organised for parents in the Community centre. The seminar was well attended and feedback from the parents was that ‘the subject matter was enlightening, informative and very beneficial’.
April 2018
- Our 5th and 6th class students received the sacrament of Confirmation on 16th of April. The Parents Association hosted a reception in the Community Centre after the ceremony on behalf of Fr Tom Bardon.
- Active schools week took place on April 24th-28th. Some of our Parents Association members came into the school to share their expertise. A Yoga workshop was given to the junior infant class. An athletics circuit training session was given to the senior classes. Some of our pupils have been training for the Park Run which will take place in Longford on June 24th.
May 2018
- A Juggling workshop was organised as the first part of the pupils annual treat. This took place in the Community centre on May 2nd. Each class took part in a 45min interactive session during which time they watched the Juggler perform amazing tricks. The children then had an opportunity to learn some simple tricks. The children enjoyed the experience immensely.
- Our Second class pupils received the Sacrement of First Holy Communion on the 26th of May. The Parents Association, along with the First class parents, hosted a reception after the ceremony for the Communicants and their families on behalf of Fr. Tom Bardon.
June 2018
- The Exploration Dome mobile planetarium has been booked for Tuesday June 26th as the second part of the annual treat for all pupils.
- The 6th class graduation gifts of a personalised commemorative medal, photo pack and balloons have been organised. Refreshments will be offered to the graduates and their families at the ceremony on Monday 25th June.
- The Parents Association will host a retirement reception for Ms. Rose McGrath in the school on Wed 27th June. A presentation gift for Ms. McGrath on behalf of the Parents Association has been organised.
- A summer Hamper has been prepared for raffle on the 27th June as part of the annual fundraising project.
- Preparation for the 2018-2019 Book Rental Scheme has commenced. Fees are currently being collected and finished books are being gathered and counted.
- Work will continue during the Summer months during which time new books will be ordered and covered. All books in scheme will be labelled and organised into individual piles for participating pupils.
